Yazeed Haynes Commits to Penn State Football

Penn State Football landed a commitment from explosive athlete Yazeed Haynes on Sunday evening.

Haynes, who was offered just a week ago by the Nittany Lions, committed at the conclusion of his official visit to Penn State. Haynes is the first Penn State commit as a result of the June official visit period.

Penn State’s staff deserves a lot of credit for how they handled Haynes’ recruitment. A week ago, he was a little-known prospect who had to come camp at Penn State to earn his offer. He impressed the staff, they offered and a week later he’s a Nittany Lion. That’s quite a week right there.

Locking up Haynes now was important because he was destined to see his recruitment explode this summer. In the last week, Haynes jumped nearly 400 spots in the 247 Sports Composite rankings. Other schools were starting to poke around as well, he did have an official visit scheduled to Minnesota for next weekend.

We saw wide receivers coach Taylor Stubblefield identify two underrated prospects in the 2022 class in Tyler Johnson and Omari Evans. A year later, he’s done it again with Haynes.

A one-time Rutgers commit, Haynes is listed at 6-foot-1 and 176 pounds. The Lansdale, PA product is expected to play wide receiver at Penn State. His speed makes him a big-play threat and helps lessen the blow of losing Rodney Gallagher to WVU.

Haynes is currently listed as the No. 80 wide receiver in the 247 Sports Composite and the 17th best player in Pennsylvania. Look for these rankings to go up during Haynes’ senior season.

Haynes joins Ejani Shakir as the wide receivers in Penn State’s 2023 recruiting class. The class now has 13 commits and ranks fourth in the national rankings.

The Nittany Lions still have two official visit weekends left, with these last two having more attendees than the first two.
