FARGO — North Dakota State University President David Cook will be going on a 10-day tour of the state approximately two months after taking office.

Cook will travel July 11-21 to meet with alumni, local leaders, legislators, members of the State Board of Higher Education, Extension employees, agricultural producers and other key stakeholders and supporters, the university said in a news release.

“This tour allows me to continue learning about the great state of North Dakota and all the ways NDSU can and does contribute to its success,” Cook said in the release.

The tour kick offs with one of four North Dakota Tour events that are free and open to the public. Cook will be joined by NDSU Athletics staff and coaches for a short program followed by a social in Bismarck at Laughing Sun Brewing Co. on July 11 from 5 pm to 7 pm

Additional events are scheduled for Watford City at Stonehome Brewing Co.. on July 14 from 6 pm to 8 pm, Wahpeton at Corteva Agriscience on July 18 from noon to 1:30 pm and Grand Forks at Cloud 9 Lounge on July 21 from 5 pm to 7 pm

Registration is required for all North Dakota Tour events.

As part of the statewide tour, Cook also will visit NDSU Extension locations in Streeter, Hettinger, Dickinson, Williston, Casselton, Carrington, Minot and Langdon during their annual Field Days.

Cook became NDSU’s 15th president in mid-May, taking the place of former president Dean Bresciani, whose contract was not renewed by the State Board of Higher Education in 2021 after 12 years.

Bresciani remains at NDSU, where he’s transitioning into a tenured professor position.
