LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — SoulFeast Week is back for a second year. It is a ten-day celebration from June 17th to June 26th.
The week celebrates black culinary culture and highlights black restaurants, farmers, and chefs in central Kentucky. Through educational exhibits, curated experiences, and enjoying great food, SoulFeast Week is an opportunity for Kentuckians of all races and backgrounds to support black businesses.
From June 20 until June 26, you can also enjoy Black Restaurant Week. It is Lexington’s first-ever food week exclusively for black-owned restaurants. Participating restaurants have created unique, off-menu food entrées priced for only $10.
In partnership with Black Soil KY, each entrée features at least one ingredient sourced from a black farmer or producer in Kentucky.
And what goes best with food in Kentucky? The answer, bourbon.
SoulFeast has partnered with the Kentucky Black Bourbon Guild and New Riff Distilling to distill bourbon. Proceeds from this single barrel selection will benefit KBBG’s Freddie Johnson Minority Scholarship to further minority participation in bourbon education. You can preorder a bottle here. Pickup will only be available at SoulFeast Week’s The Riff Room event on June 18 inside Lexington Marriott City Center.
SoulFeast has three other events scheduled for the remainder of the week.
On June 22 at Creaux, there will be a four-course meal highlighting the flavors and sounds of New Orleans. There will also be cocktails provided by Castle & Key Distillery.
On June 23 at Jack’s Sandbar & Grill, there will be cigars, food, and Woodford Reserve bourbon. All proceeds will benefit the Kentucky Black Bourbon Guild Scholarship Fund. Cigars will be available for purchase through Smokeasy Mobile Cigar Lounge.
And on June 26 at Infinity: Rooftop Restaurant + Bar, brunch will be served while listening to a live gospel band.
