Dr. Richard William Cook | Daily Democrat

Dr. Richard William Cook, 79, longtime resident of Mobile, Ala., ascended to his heavenly reward on June 13, 2022.

Dr. Cook was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on April 29, 1943, to Richard Milton Cook and Genefee Clark Cook.

He was married to beloved high school sweetheart, Rochelle Christensen Cook, who survives him, for 60 years.

Dr. Cook graduated from Montrose High School in 1961; served in the US Air Force; then graduated from Logan Chiropractic College in 1969.

He worked as Doctor of Chiropractic for over 40 years. During that time, he served as president of the Alabama State Chiropractic Association as well as other offices in the association.

Following retirement, Dr. Cook remained busy, as he studied and became an ordained minister. He was also an avid gardener, fisherman and enjoyed a hearty laugh.

Dr. Cook was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Cook Azinger; and daughter, Christina (Allan) Holtkamp.

Dr. Cook is survived and fondly remembered by his children, Monica (David) Bennett of Helena, Ark., Andy (Lori) Cook of Mobile, Ala., and Adgie (Cory) Burk of Mountain View, Calif. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 am Saturday, June 25. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 10 am

Services will be directed by Cottage Hill Memorial Funeral Home (251-380-6601).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dr. Cook’s honor to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
