Bryson DeChambeau commits to play in Travelers Championship

Bryson DeChambeau became the latest golfer to commit to play in the Travelers Championship, doing so on Monday morning, the tournament announced.

The 2020 US Open champion, DeChambeau is currently 28th in the world. He was fifth at the end of the 2021 season.

The drop-off has had to do with a left wrist injury that suffered early in the season. He had surgery on the wrist right after missing the cut at the Masters.

Of the six PGA Tour events DeChambeau has played in, he has missed the cut in four of them. His best finish was a tie for 25th at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in early January.

DCeChambeau missed the cut at the Memorial this past weekend, his first action since the surgery. He has eight tour victories.

This will be the seventh straight year DeChambeau has played in the Travelers Championship. He has three top-10 finishes, including a tie for sixth place in 2020.

“When Bryson plays, it’s must-watch golf, because if you turn away, you might miss something extraordinary,” said Andy Bessette, executive vice president and chief administrative officer at Travelers. “Not only is he a great athlete, he’s also been supportive of our tournament and has been great to our fans. We’re so glad that he’s healthy and we’re thrilled that he’s going to tee it up here in Connecticut in a couple of weeks.”
