After Panel Rap, Govt School Teacher Booked | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: After the intervention of Punjab State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights, the principal of a government school has got an FIR lodged against the teacher accused of sending inappropriate messages to girl students late at night.
The Ludhiana rural police have lodged the FIR against the physical training instructor (PTI) under sections 354-D (stalking), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The FIR stated that he had sent inappropriate messages to the girl students with a malicious intention and also threatened them for not responding to his late night calls.
On June 9, the child rights panel had sought a report from the district education officer, secondary, on why the school principal did not get an FIR lodged against the teacher. The teacher was suspended by the department last week.
In May, some girl students had given a written complaint against the teachers, accusing him of making phone calls at night and pressing them to talk to him on phone. The girls said when they did not answer his calls, the teacher kept on sending messages to force them to talk. One of the girls said the teacher had asked her about the whereabouts of a woman teacher. Another girl said he had called her mother to make her talk to him, as she was not responding to his calls.
When the matter was brought to the notice of the school principal, she inquired and found it true. She informed the senior officials. Thereafter, a committee was formed to investigate the case. Its inquiry report stated that the screenshots given by the schoolgirls of the calls and the messages confirmed the claims. “Some screenshots showed that the teacher threatened the girls for not talking to him, which showed his bad intentions. Moreover, the teacher has admitted to his fault during the inquiry,” the report added.
On June 5, the education department had suspended the teacher. However, the department did not inform the police for taking further action.
